SUMMARY
My name is Mai and I graduated in Biochemistry from the Technical University of Munich where I conducted research on the interaction of antibiotics and resistance development in hospital pathogens. Following my interest in the global and social consequences of drug resistance, I pursued a second master’s degree in Global Health at the Karolinska Institutet where I investigated the economic burden caused on households affected by multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Building on my scientific background and my passion for writing, I am inspired to create articles on any topic that sparks my interest.
EDUCATION
I did my first master’s degree at the Technical University of Munich in biochemistry with a specialisation in microbiology. My second master’s degree is in Global Health where I acquired knowledge over the use of quantitative methodologies in population-based studies.
WORK
Currently, my work involved the coordination of various national and international scientific projects at Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research. In the past, I contributed to scientific work to better understand the role of Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales in Vietnam.
VOLUNTEERING
I have voluntered at MicroBites where I published several blog articles on research in microbiology with a focus on antimicrobial resistance. Besides, I participated as an active member in student organisations such as TUFSA or AIESEC to promote intercultural exchange.
